Devious Journal Entry

Sun Jul 7, 2002, 1:50 PM
That is indeed true: nothing is trivial. It is a belief I want to, once again, accept. To be trivial something must appear to lack significance –and a tragedy it would be if that was the case. To proclaim something as trivial implies the loss of pure, childlike curiosity. The proclaimer is now admittedly desensitized, jaded, the world has become a mere habit. I am afraid that the process of growing up, like a metastasizing cancer, is eroding away the feelings of wonder that comes so naturally to children…and well…philosophers. Continuing this clouded mindset will only drown me in a sea of apathy….
So Aristotle invented the game "guess this object". We ought to give Plato the credit for having invented hide-and-seek. Democritus has already been credited with having invented Lego.

I'm told that the Midland climate is beginning to do me harm, and that with my negligible means life in Midland is very expensive. I know all that, I know it better than all these experienced and most wise counsellors and waggers of heads. But I am staying in Midland; I will not leave Midland! I will not leave because... Eh! but it's all completely the same whether I leave or not.
